How does it work?
Would you like to help someone shop for their children this Christmas? The Elf Project is one on one program dedicated to assisting those who have enough or more than enough to take back Christmas by helping those in need in Knox and Anderson Counties. Elf Project volunteers donate their time and/or financial resources and shop with a parent in need of assistance for his or her children. You, the Elf donor, provide the money but the parent picks out the presents: clothes, toys, maybe a basketball or a doll. It's a trip where children and family are once again at the the center of Christmas.
Who can help?
The Elf Project is completely volunteer-based. It relies on the time and financial resources of its donor/shoppers. 100% of your money goes directly to the applicants. As a donor/shopper you actually see where your donation is going firsthand. We also accept financial gifts from individuals as well as corporate donors. Monetary donations of any size are welcome. To facilitate the disbursement of these additional funds, we need and welcome additional volunteer shoppers who will be reimbursed from donated funds after shopping with an applicant.
Volunteers are the backbone of The Elf Project. Take back Christmas and join The Elf Project as a volunteer. The relief and happiness this brings to our families certainly equals the satisfaction the Elves themselves feel. This shopping outing can be one of the best experiences you have this Christmas. (See Comments page!) Don't hesitate. Become an Elf!
Donor/shopper Elves agree to spend $50 per child in a given family. Whether you shop for a family with one child, or a family with 6 children, you can be assured that you will be bringing joy to those parents and children. You decide! You can volunteer as an individual, a couple, or with a friend or family member.
If you have the resources to shop, we welcome you. Sign up. The generosity of your time and money is a great gift to another family.
The time commitment is about one hour of shopping per family, frequently less.
Shopper Elves are those who have extra time and are willing to shop with donated funds for a family applicant. The time commitment is about one hour of shopping per family, frequently less. Shopper Elves help us disburse donated money for children of families in need during the holiday season.
We always need Shopper Elves! Even if you do not have the extra funds to be a Donor/Shopper, we welcome you as a Shopper Elf. We need you! Don't hesitate! The generosity of your time is a great gift to a family and to making our project work.
